Though it is not a fellowship/Scholarship offer, it is an internship programme that provides an opportunity for young graduates to persue research for which the UNU provides office space and facilities for their appropriate work. The United Nations University (UNU) allows Young graduates interested in research to look in to pressing global problems that are concern of the United Nations and its member states to work in co-operations with other research and International Organisations, Individual Scholars and scientists through out the world. Besides this the UNU plays the role to act as International Community of Scholars, a bridge in between the United Nations and the International Academic Community- A think Tank for the United Systems.
Any body who have a graduation or equivalent in the fields related to the functions such as International Relations, Political Science, Geography and environmental Studies and have expertise relevant to the UNU in any one or more of its activities namely environment and sustainable development , peace and governance, capacity building etc can apply.
Besides this a written consent by at least one of the UNU officer who will act as a supervisor to the intern is required. Applicants should request the official to supply a confidential letter in support of their application directly to the UNU.
Generally the duration of the internship is 3 months to 6 months. The UNU is not a traditional University in the sense of having faculty, campous or students nor does it reward degrees but there are a restricted number of full time personnel at the University’s head quarter in Tokyo and it’s Institutes in various parts of the world.
